1. A 30-year old man complains of an itchy rash over his arms and upper body just after receiving a blood transfusion.
2. A 40-year old undergoing chemotherapy is given a transfusion for severe anaemia, he comes in the next day complaining of abdominal pain, diarrhoea and fever and he has a blistering rash on his upper body.
3. An embarrassed 16-year old with beta-thalassaemia, presents complaining of being shorter than his peers. On examination he has not developed secondary sexual characteristics. On investigation he also has poor cardiac function.
4. A 59-year old man has developed fever, rigors and severe chest pain a few minutes after the start of a blood transfusion. He is dyspnoeic, tachycardic, and hypotensive. Urinalysis reveals haemoglobinuria.
5. A 37-year old multiparous woman receiving transfusion develops fever and rigors, flushing of the face and tachycardia about one hour after the start of the transfusion.
