1. A 3 year old girl received a bone marrow transplant. A few days later the patient developed severe bloody diarrhoea, abdominal pain and vomiting. She also has a widespread rash that started on the palms of her hands.

 

 

2. A 53 y/o female developed a wide spread itchy, erythematous rash on both arms 20 minutes after receiving a blood transfusion. The rash improved after taking cyclizine.

 

3. 7 days after a blood transfusion a patient presents with jaundice, abnormal LFTs and temperature of 38.5 degrees C. On examination there was conjunctival pallor.

 

 

4. A 65 year old man with a low haemoglobin undergoes blood transfusion. 2 hours later he develops SOB and becomes hypoxic.

 

5. A 40 y/o truck driver is involved RTA is given 1 unit of blood during an operation. A few minutes after the transfusion he becomes hypotensive and tachycardic.
