For each scenario below, choose the most appropriate answer from the list above. Each option may be used once, more than once or not at all.

1. A 67 year old man presents to his GP complaining of a “cold that won’t go away” and night sweats. He also noticed he had unexpectedly lost some weight over the last month or so. Upon examination lymphadenopathy and splenomegaly were noted. Blood film shows small, mature-appearing lymphocytes.

2. A 6 year old boy of Indian origin presents with a petechial rash and non-tender lymphadenopathy. His past medical history reveals two recent respiratory tract infections prior to the onset of the rash.

3. A 25 year old woman presents with a 3 week history of fatigue and bruising easily. Subsequent blood tests and blood film show pancytopenia and presence of myeloblasts respectively. Examination of the bone marrow reveals predominance of myeloblasts.

4. A 40 year old man presents with 2 week history of fatigue, dyspnoea on exertion and easy bruising. He also recalls that he recently cut his finger and that it had “bled a lot for a small scratch”. Subsequent blood tests reveal Hb 10g/dl, WCC 6.5 x 109/l and platelet count 22 x 109/l. Cytogenetics of peripheral blood showed t(15;17).

5. A 42 year old woman presents with a 3 month history of fatigue, intermittent pyrexia and abdominal pain. Upon examination splenomegaly is noted. Subsequent blood tests show Hb 9.6 g/dl and WCC 170 x 109/l. Examination of the bone marrow reveals an increase in myeloid precursors.
