For each scenario below, choose the most appropriate answer from the list above. Each option may be used once, more than once or not at all.

1.  An 8 month old child is admitted to A+E with irritability that his parents think is due to pain. He is pale and icteric and has a swollen elbow. His abdomen is tender but there is no organomegaly. First line testing indicates that his haemoglobin is low.

2. A 2 year old boy presents with a large bruise on his thigh. There is no evidence of a non accidental injury and his PTT is prolonged.

3.   A 6 year old girl presents to A&E with pallor, bruising and bone pain. On clinical examination hepatosplenomegaly is noted. Blood analysis reveals a reduced raised WCC and blast cells are noted.

4. A 4 year old girl is brought in due to tiredness and a poor appetite. She is slightly jaundiced. She has a low Hb, and a blood film demonstrates spherocytes.

5. A 6 month old boy of Middle Eastern origin is admitted with jaundice, pallor and failure to thrive. On examination he has hepatosplenomegaly. Investigations show that he is anaemic and has high levels of HbF.
