1. A 70 year old man with a painless ulcer on the shaft of his penis for 3 months. Since the death of his wife (4 years ago) he has not had any sexual contact. The ulcer is increasing in size, he has a swelling in his left inguinal area.
2. A 15 year old has a well circumscribed red-brown moist area on his glans penis. He recently started antibiotics for facial acne. He has been seeing his girlfriend for 6 months.
3. A 23 year old homosexual man, who plays rugby for IMRFC and has fantastic chest hair, develops an indurated, pailess ulcer on the shaft of his penis. He has a number of casual partners. He noticed that one of his “gym buddies” had a blotchy rash on the palms of his hands.
4. A 19 year old man has come back off holiday from Malia where he sunbathed a lot. He currently has a steady girl friend and received fellatio from her for the first time whilst there. He has since developed a painful penile ulcer.
5. A semi-professional rugby player developed a nasty colitis that was treated with ciprofloxacin. After a few days he developed bilateral conjunctivitis, arthritis of his left knee and a flat plaque with raised scaly edges on the glans of his penis.
