1. A 5 year old African boy presents pyrexic, with conjunctivitis. Erythema and oedema are noticed in the mucous membranes of the mouth, with the tongue being especially red. There is a unilateral swelling in the neck, thought to be a lymph node.

 

 

2. A 41 year old woman presents with dry eyes. On further questioning it is found that she has vaginal dryness and pain in several joints. Blood tests show she is rheumatoid factor positive.

 

 

3. A 37 year old patient presents with a  goitre and pretibial myxoedema. The patient has also noticed significant weight loss, yet an increase in food intake. Furthermore, you noticed a hand tremor during the consultation.

 

 

4. A 34 year old gentleman presents with shortness of breath. He has a raised purple rash over the face, and also tender nodules over the shins.

 

 

5. A 42 year old woman has noticed that her fingers and toes are becoming paler. She notices this more during the winter months. She has also noticed problems swallowing solid foods. Upon examination, the clinician observes the skin around the fingers to be thicker and tighter.
