1. A 40 year old male presents to A&E with one episode of haematemesis. On examination the patient is pale, hypotensive and tachycardic. The patient is a known alcoholic.

 

2. A 55 year old female with Rheumatoid Arthritis presents with a month’s history of upper abdominal pain especially after eating. Upon questioning, it was found the patient had experience one episode of haematemesis.

 

3. A 70 year old male with a long history of epigastric pain and reflux. Reflux is worse on lying down. Endoscopy reveals columnar metaplasia in the lower oesophagus and goblet cells are seen

 

4. A 20 year old female presented with lethargy and breathlessness. A blood film shows a megaloblastic anaemia.

 

5. A 63 year old alcoholic man presents with dysphagia and retrosternal chest pain. Upon further questioning, it is revealed he has difficulty eating solids but can drink liquids with no trouble. He was diagnosed with Barrett’s oesophagus 6 years ago.
