1. A 35 year old secretary presents
with a 6 month history of stomach cramps and alternating constipation and
diarrhoea. Her mother passed away recently and she broke up with her boyfriend.
2. A 60 year old man with a BMI of
35 presents to A&E with acute upper abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting.
This is the first time it has happened. The patient denies drinking any
alcohol, and on further questioning, he admits to eating only KFC fried chicken
for dinner. However, he has been on Orlistat and managed to lose 10 kg in the
past month.
3. A 19 year old medical student presents
a month before her exams with fatigue, anxiety, recurring panic
attacks and menstrual disturbances. Her mother has hypothyroidism.
4. A 45 year old builder presents with
abdominal pain and bloating. When asked, he admitted to having pale and greasy
stools.
5. A 22 year old medical student
with a 4 month history of unintended weight loss and panic attacks had an
episode of oily discharge at defecation. The stools were of normal colour.
She came back from holiday 3 weeks ago and had been eating at different
restaurants in the past week.
