For each scenario below, choose the most appropriate answer from the list above. Each option may be used once, more than once or not at all.

 

1. A caucasian patient undergoes blood transfusion after major bleeding in a trauma accident. Immediately the patient develops difficulty breathing and hypotension. In the patient notes it is revealed that the patient has had multiple respiratory infections in the past.

 

 

2. Within an hour of transfusion a patient develops difficulty breathing, fever and hypotension. A CXR performed reveals a whiteout and the CVP is normal with blood cultures negative

 

 

3. A lady presents with fever, malaise and a drop in haemoglobin 4 days after a transfusion which occurred during a C-Section. It is noted she required a transfusion during her last C-section as well.

 

 

4. A patient develops a temperature of 39.5 several hours after receiving a transfusion
