1. A 60 year old man collapses at home, his wife notices he went very pale before falling to the ground and becoming unresponsive. She tries to rouse him. As he comes round he becomes flushed and quickly regains consciousness, he has not been incontinent of urine. He complains of a funny feeling in his chest.

 

 

2. A 21 year old female attends A&E complaining of visual disturbance, flashing lights and pins and needles down one side of her body. She has never experienced this before, but states her Mum suffers from bad headaches. She is now complaining of a severe headache.

 

3. A 65 year old women visits her GP after having experienced several episodes of sharp 'electric shock like' pain in her right cheek. She notices it starts when she is eating or talking and lasts for a few minutes.

 

4. A 74 year old woman attends a local urgent care centre complaining of a constant aching around her right eye. Her vision has become blurry. On examination the right pupil is fixed and dilated, the right eye is very red. Fundoscopy shows a cupped optic disc.

 

 

5. A 15 year old male visits his GP complaining of left sided ear pain and facial weakness. He says he has been feeling unwell for the past 3 days. On otoscopy he has an inflamed, bulging tympanic membrane.
