For each scenario below, choose the most appropriate answer from the list above. Each option may be used once, more than once or not at all.
1. A 25 year old African man presents with a 3 week history of fever, malaise and the presence of painful “lumps” in his left inguinal region. NAAT is positive for Chlamydia trichomatis with further testing identifying the L2 serovar.
2. A 20 year old man presents to clinic with urethral discharge and dysuria. Microscopic examination of the discharge reveals intracellular gram negative diplococci.
3. A 22 year old pregnant lady presents to clinic with dysuria and an offensive smelling grey vaginal discharge. Microscopic examination reveals clue cells and a raised pH is also detected.
4. A 31 year old man presents to clinic with red, dome-shaped pearly lesions over his face which are identified as molluscum contagiosum. His CD4 count is 200 cells/mm3.
5. A 34 year old man presents with a small painless ulcer (chancre) on the genitals. Spirochetes are noted on dark ground microscopy on a sample from the lesion. Serological testing reveals a positive TPPA and VDRL. What is the causative organism?
