For each scenario below, choose the most appropriate answer from the list above. Each option may be used once, more than once or not at all.
1. A previously healthy 60 year old male attends your clinic with flu-like symptoms including a low grade fever, fatigue and a headache. He has also reported a burning sensation that has been present for the past few days on the skin around his right flank moving to the umbilical area.
2. A 2 year old child presents to A+E with fever, vomiting and diarrhoea. She is extremely dehydrated. Apparently a few other infants have had similar symptoms at the childcare centre that she attends.
3. A 45 year old HIV positive gentleman attends your clinic reporting black papular skin blotches.
4. A young African woman who has had a “lifelong infection” gives birth to a child. The child is given three vaccinations – one at birth (alongside immune globulin), one at 2 months and one at 6 months.
5. An 18 year old student attends your clinic after freshers’ fortnight, with an itchy genital area and pain on urination. On examination you find a few small fluid filled blisters on the underside of his penis.
