1. A woman with Addison’s disease begins to experience tingling in her fingers and toes. A blood test reveals a megaloblastic anaemia.
2. A man visits his GP complaining of diarrhoea for the last six months with cramping and bloating, but no bleeding. He has lost weight. He has a cast on his wrist after a breaking a bone in a fall.
3. A young woman complains of diarrhoea which on further questioning is difficult to flush. She says she is exhausted and ‘black and blue’ from her normal sports training, although she recently managed an intensive training camp in Brazil with no difficulty.
4. A middle-aged man is brought in by his wife who says he has been getting confused recently. He takes a lot of OTC medication including paracetamol and glucosamine for his joints. She says he has lost weight.
5. A six year old says he’s being teased at school for farting in class. He says he often has tummy ache and tummy rumbles. He also says he has an itchy bum.
