1. A 25 year old receptionist presents to her GP complaining of an acutely painful left knee. On examination the knee is swollen, red but has full range of movement. During the systems review she tells the GP that she has recently been experiencing burning pain whilst urinating.
2. A 35 year old HIV patient who has been refusing to take his HAART medication presents with a week long history of headaches, blurred vision and a stiff neck. Diagnosis is made using Indian Ink CSF staining.
3. A 57 year old woman complains to her GP about having extremely itchy arms and legs particularly at night. On examination she has a papular rash on her thigh and slightly raised red dots in the digital web spaces. Her husband has similar symptoms.
4. A 35 year old rambler returns from trip to Yellow Stone National Park in North America and tells his GP he is slightly concerned about a rash on his side. He doesn’t know when it started but it has grown in size. On examination the GP sees a circular rash which is faded centrally and has a bulls-eye appearance.
5. A 65 year old female complains of a very painful rash which has appeared on the front of her leg. It runs down the anterior surface of her shin. She is struggling to cope with being newly retired and admits that she has been particularly stressed recently.
