2. A 25-year-old man with thalassaemia major complains of joint pain, polyuria and is jaundiced.
3. Mr. JG had a blood transfusion 2 hours ago. He is now pyrexial and hypotensive. There is another man in the bay having a blood transfusion today – his name is Mr. GJ.
4. Mrs. X had a blood transfusion 2 weeks ago following unexpected blood loss during surgery. She has returned to A&E today with a fever and jaundice and she claims her urine is a weird colour. A FBC shows she is anaemic.
5. A 35-year-old mother of four had a blood transfusion a week ago. She has subsequently developed antibodies to the HPA-1a antigen.
