1. A 14 year old girl is brought to A+E by her parents with jaundice, nauseous and complains of stomach pains. Her prognosis is assessed according to the King’s College Criteria.­­­ ­­

 

 

2. A 30 year old gentleman presents at 8am on Monday morning. He has an irregular, tachycardic pulse and is extremely anxious. The doctor administers diazepam which helps to calm him down.

 

 

3. A 27 year old homeless man presents with tachypnoea, miosis and mild hypotension. He is very drowsy. Blood gases show a respiratory acidosis.

 

 

4. A 33 year old lady presents at 5am, and is confused and agitated. She is not very coherent, and says that she does not remember much of the evening. She is very warm, and blood tests show a very high creatine kinase, as well as raised creatinine and urea.

 

 

5. A 64 year old man returns for surgical follow up, and the doctor has reason to believe he has become opioid-dependent. The doctor prescribes this drug as a replacement.
