For each scenario below, choose the most appropriate answer from the list above. Each option may be used once, more than once or not at all.
1. A 42 yr old man presents with a 2/52 history of bloody diarrhoea with mucus, abdominal discomfort, head aches, nausea and anorexia. On further questioning he reveals that he has just returned from a business trip to Malaysia where he ate local food.
2. A 19yr old lady presents with 1/52 history of fever, blood-stained diarrhoea and myalgia. She has recently returned from travelling in Uganda where she developed an itchy rash on her leg after paddling in Lake Victoria. On examination she has obvious hepatomegaly.
3. A 35 yr old lady presents with unexplained weight loss over the previous 2 months. She is concerned because on several occasions recently she has noticed small pale bodies in her stools.
4. A 27 yr old man presents with a 5 day hx of severe watery diarrhoea, nausea, anorexia, abdominal bloating and discomfort which developed upon returning from his honeymoon in the Philippines. He noticed this morning that his stool appeared to be paler. A stool sample suggests steatorrhoea.
5. A 32 yr old lady presents with severe ulcerating lesions predominantly on her lips but also her nose. Further questioning reveals that 5 months previously she had been on an expedition to Peru where she developed painless nodules on her arms which enlarged and ulcerated with a red raised border and overlying scab. Scars from these lesions are still evident on her arm.
