1. Jack is a 25 year old man who presents with jaundice. On examination he has a leg ulcer and splenomegaly. After investigation he is found to have a deficiency of the structural membrane protein spectrin.
2. Duniya
presents at only 6 months old with a chest infection. Her mother complains this is her 7th infection
since his birth and that she seems to be smaller than other babies of the same
age. On examination she appears to
have an enlarged maxilla and prominent frontal and parietal bones. Blood tests reveal a severe
anaemia.

film. Direct CoombÕs test is positive.
