For each scenario below, choose the most appropriate answer from the list above. Each option may be used once, more than once or not at all.
1. A 21-year old medical student presents to his GP with fever, nausea and large, tender bilateral swellings on either side of his face.
2. A 23-year old, sexually active hairdresser presents to his GP complaining of dysuria and pain around his penis and anus. On inspection clusters of papules are found at the base of his penis and perineum.
3. A 43-year old single female presents to A+E with severe agitation, fever, headache and has since developed a profound terror of water. She has recently spent a month travelling in the Canadian Rockies.
4. Within a few weeks of starting university an 18-year old female has developed a severe headache with malaise. On examination she is Kernig’s sign positive.
5. An otherwise healthy 55-year old male reports to his doctor with a two day history of diarrhoea. On examination he is mildly jaundice, although his wife insists that he is ‘always that colour.’ In routine blood tests his ALT’s are found to be mildly raised.
