1. A 28 year old male presents to his local GUM clinic complaining of urethral discharge. Urethral smear shows Gram negative diplococci that are oxidase positive.

 

 

2.  A 35 year old gentleman presents to his GP with a papular rash on his  thigh, which is particularly itchy at night time. He also has noticed a rash on his penis, which on closer examination reveals multiple red nodules.

 

 

3. A 21 year old female medical student is brought to A&E with urinary retention. Two days earlier she developed painful blisters around her vagina and dysuria.

 

 

4. A 18 year old shop worker comes to his GP complaining of pain in the joints of his feet and knees. Four weeks previously, he had suffered burning pain when he urinated. On examination, raised brown plaques are seen on the soles of his feet.

 

 

5. A 38 year old investment banker visits his local GUM clinic complaining of an ulcer at the base of his penis. On examination, it is painless and there is inguinal lymphadenopathy.
