1. A five year old boy presents with a history of jaundice and
tiredness. On examination there is
mild splenomegally. A Hb of 9 is found.
On the blood film there are a number of small rounded cells.
2. A 13 year old girl presents
with a fever, cough and malaise.
Blood cultures show an infection with Haemophilis
influenzae.
She has also had admissions previously for hand and foot pain.
3. A 6 year old boy presents with
jaundice and anaemia following eating fava beans.
4. A 5month old boy presents with
jaundice and severe anaemia. His
parents are also worried that he is not growing and putting on weight. On examination you find hepatosplenomegally and a prominent jaw.
5. A newborn baby boy is noticed
to have jaundice. There is no hepatosplenogmegally and the Hb is
only mildly low. Both parents are
rhesus positive. Coombs test is
positive.
