Obstetrics
The large obstetric department at the Hammersmith and Queen Charlotte's Hospitals provides valuable endocrine training for our SpRs in antenatal endocrinology and diabetes. Dr. Michael de Swiet is a consultant obstetric physician and supervises the training of SpRs in obstetric medicine. The nation's leading obstetric hospital, Queen Charlotte's, along with The Obstetric Research Institute, have just been built on the Hammersmith Site. Influential figures in Obstetric medicine, such as Professor Stephen Franks (chairman of BES) and Professor Robert Winston are part of the new Department. This will undoubtedly lead to an increase in academic and clinical collaboration between Obstetric Medicine and Endocrinology.
Paediatrics
The paediatric clinic provides excellent training in childhood and adolescent endocrine disease. In addition to the current paediatric service at the Hammersmith, our SpRs are encouraged to attend endocrine and metabolic clinics at Great Ormond Street Hospital, which is within close proximity to the Hammersmith and Charing Cross Site.
