Neurological Examination of the Leg 8a: Testing for clonus

Ankle clonus present:

  • This patient has ankle clonus.
     
  • Support the knee in a partly flexed position.
     
  • With the patient relaxed, quickly dorsiflex the foot.
     
  • Observe for rhythmic oscillations.
